Firefox 1.1 Preview
posted under Web Morsels 8.5.2005
The Fedora Core Blog featured a post earlier this month about the upcoming version of Mozilla Firefox. Version 1.1 is intended for release some time before November.

On the cards for improvement are a bunch of UI tweaks, including one for the /. layout bug, better tab handling and rendering speed improvements. On top of that, a new “Sanitize” feature will be included, which, when activated, will “scrub your profile of sensitive information (which you select in the preferences)” to make secure browsing that bit easier.

The Linux keyboard shortcut for this feature is said to be Ctrl+Alt+Delete :) . Insert your derisive Windows joke here.

CMU Prof’s RIAA Slapdown
posted under Idiot World, Web Morsels 4.5.2005
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published an article on Sunday by RIAA president Cary Sherman, whinging that university students are “hijacking” Internet2 to pirate copyrighted works. Today the Post-Gazette published a letter [top item] from CMU Professor of CS and Music Roger Dannenberg, reminding readers what a hypocritical gang of bastards the RIAA are. Nice to see someone with some status standing up for common sense.
